Enabling Spam Assassin


By default your cPanel account starts with Spam Assassin disabled. If you find that you are getting large amounts of spam, you may find that enabling Spam Assassin will help reduce the amount of spam you receive.

To enable Spam Assassin, you will need to access your cPanel account. Please visit www.yourdomainname.com/cPanel (Replace 'yourdomainname' with your actual domain name) and login.

1. Once inside your cPanel account, you can find the Spam Assassin icon/link by searching 'spam' in the 'find' box at the top of the screen, click on the 'Apache Spam Assassin' button.
2. Click on the 'Enable Apache SpamAssassin', at the top of the screen to reduce the amount of spam.
3. After you click on the 'Enable Apache SpamAssassin' button you will see a confirmation that  Apache SpamAssassin is enabled. Click the 'Go Back' button to return to the previous page.
4. You have the option to either mark email as spam (modifies email subject) or have Spam Assassin delete email it marks as spam automatically.
5. If you find legimate email is being marked as spam decrease the spam filter strength (1-10) and increase it should you still be receiving large amounts of spam.
